Trainee General Hand / Plant Operator

We strive to continuously improve our performance and gain public recognition for our initiatives. We currently have an opportunity for a Trainee General Hand / Plant Operator to join our team.

  • Permanent full-time position (76 hours per fortnight with RDO)
  • Gross Salary to $48,000 per annum ($24.29 p/hr) dependent upon skills and age
  • Up to 16.5% superannuation

About the Role:

This role will give you the opportunity to develop practical skills and gain hands on experience that will allow you to provide support to the Shire’s Works and Services Department.

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist experienced operators with construction, repair and maintenance of roads, drainage, footpaths and other associated civil tasks.
  • Undertake sealed road patching and repair as well as vegetation control/clearings.
  • Operate petrol and electric power hand tools and equipment associated with road, footpath and drainage maintenance.
  • Participate in traffic management under the direction of the Works Supervisor.
  • Participate in training programs towards competent operation various plant and equipment associated with civil construction.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in this role you will need to be a motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and a responsible person willing to learn about civil construction including road construction and maintenance, drainage installation and repairs, vegetation control.
