On January 26, The Shire of Nannup held its 29th Citizen of the Year Award ceremony together with the community at Foreshore Park. More than 250 members of the community came together to share in the celebrations and commemorate community life in Nannup.  

The Nannup Citizen of the Year Awards acknowledged those that have been recognised for their contribution towards the enhancement of community life in Nannup.

The winners and nominations of the Nannup Citizen of the Year awards 

Youth Citizen of the Year

James Scott, for his leadership and by generously assisting elderly residents with firewood and various odd jobs, embodying the spirit of community service.

Citizen of the Year

Nominations are:

Jo Cleverly, Dr Kushdev Singh, Jenny Forbes, Mandy Blount, Mark White and Ross Croft representing some of the most active members of our community, supporting community life through their work commitments as well as their leadership and volunteerism.

Mark White was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award for his dedication to creating the Nannup WA Geopark.

Senior Citizen of the Year Award

Nominations are:

Elizabeth Collins, Peter Brown, Kevin Bird, Kim Heitman and Mike Vasey for their outstanding contribution towards our community life and represent some of our long-term community heroes.

Mike Vasey was awarded the Senior Citizen of the Year for his extensive volunteer work within the Nannup community.

Event or Community Group of the Year Award

Nominations are:

Nannup Historical Society, Nannup Lions Club, Friends of the Cemetery, Nannup WA Geopark Team, and the Friends of the Foreshore were nominated for their outstanding contribution during 2024.

The Friends of the Cemetery was awarded the Community group of the Year for their dedication to care for our cemetery, transforming it into a beautiful and respectful resting place.

The Nannup Shire Council thanked everyone involved for their dedication, community spirit and commitment in making Nannup a wonderful place to live, work and play.
