Cycle tourism program Trail Towns returns to Nannup as part of the new WA episodes that debut on TV screens 4pm Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September, on SBS and SBS On Demand.
The first time Trail Towns featured Nannup was as part of Season One when the film crew visited Nannup as part of the Southern Forests and Valleys road trip featuring the Munda Biddi Trail. Their 5 days odyssey through the Southern Forests and Valleys highlighted the best riding in the region as well as stunning attractions within each Shire.
The Season Three episodes were filmed in October 2022. This time, Western Australia’s Department of Biodiversity of Conservation and Attractions partnered with The Shire of Nannup to create the 2 episodes featuring the South West region. Trail Towns showcased Nannup, Collie and Dwellingup as the stars of these episodes, shining a light on how cycle tourism can transform a region.
While the film crew were in town last year, Deetz was stopped in the street four times in one day by people that had travelled to Nannup because they had seen Season One and were keen to ride the Munda Biddi Trail and go to Barrabup Pool. This sort of feedback is testament to the power of cycling tourism to have a positive impact on the town’s economic development and sustainability into the future. It asks visitors to Nannup to celebrate all our town has to offer by showcasing the attractions and local businesses.
In Season Three, the Nannup Mountain Bike Club is featured with riders at the Tank 7 MTB Park as well as a BBQ and DJ disco with Lewis Horne. The Trail Towns presenters, Vandy and Deetz also had a jump off with Jordan Prochyra, leading trail builder for Three Chillies Design. Gravel racing also took place in the pine forest.
The Shire of Nannup joint funded the episodes which also showcase local businesses and attractions in the area.
Trail Towns TV highlights everything that makes our town special so turn on SBS and SBS On Demand at 4pm Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September.
